Coach Blazick
Coach Blazick is a graduate of Northwest
Area High School where he was a member of the two-time PIAA Class A State
Championship basketball team. After high school graduation, Coach Blazick
began his coaching career at Hanover Area High School as a junior high girls
basketball coach. For three seasons Coach Blazick established a strong
foundation for a program struggling to field a varsity squad. After his third
season he was appointed Head Coach of the varsity girls program at Hanover.
From 1992-1997, Blazick’s Hanover girl’s teams recorded 5 consecutive winning
seasons, setting many school records along the way including first winning
season in 1992 and wins in a season in 1996. Coach Blazicks 1996 squad
captured the Wyoming Valley Conference D-2 Championship. Twice his Lady Hawks
qualified for the PIAA playoffs with his 1996 team being ranked #1 in the
state heading in.
After the 1997 season, Coach Blazick
stepped away from coaching for 3 seasons to earn his B.A in Psychology at
Wilkes University. In 2000 he returned to his high school alma-mater as the
varsity boys head coach. Taking over a program that had fallen on hard times
the previous two seasons, Blazick was able to register 5 consecutive winning
seasons from 2001-2006. His 2003 and 2004 squads had twenty win seasons with
the 2004 team bowing out in the PIAA Eastern Semifinals.
A firm believer in fundamentals, skill
development, and teamwork, Coach Blazick has coached five 1000 point scorers
and 2 all-state players and accumulated an overall record of 173-110.
