Coach Eldon Hoy 15U/9TH GRADE
Eldon Hoy has
been the varsity basketball coach at Mifflinburg High School,
a rural school in central PA, for the past ten
years. His teams have captured three CSC-I league championships during his
tenure, gaining him Coach of the Year honors in all three. The Wildcats have
posted three 20+ win seasons under coach Hoy and have an overall record of
156-98 (.614). Coach Hoy was also named the Reading Eagles’ Coach of the Year
in 2002 when the Wildcats finished 26-2 with an overtime loss in the state
playoffs to Kennett – the eventual state champions. Prior to coaching the
boys’ team in Mifflinburg, Eldon led the Wildcat girls’ team for seven years –
leading the Lady Wildcats to the school’s only appearances in the PIAA state
playoffs. Coach Hoy also works summer basketball camps at
Bucknell
University.
Eldon is a high
school mathematics teacher in the Mifflinburg Area School District, where he
has also coached track and field. He is a graduate of Mifflinburg and
received his college degree from Lock Haven University, where he met his wife,
Lori. She was a four-year starting point guard for the Bald Eagle women’s
basketball team and still holds NCAA Division II PSAC records for assists.
Eldon and Lori have two children, Zac (14) and Kira (11). Zac is following
the family footsteps – playing point guard with JB Hoops, while Kira excels in
the sport of gymnastics.
